The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially lifted its ban on SIM card swapping and email address changes for candidates, giving thousands of UTME applicants a chance to recover access to their profiles after losing their registered phone numbers or email accounts.
The new policy, which took effect on Monday, September 21, 2026, allows candidates to update their registered GSM number, email address, or both through a secure verification process at designated JAMB centres.

Who Can Change Their JAMB SIM Or Email?
The service is available to candidates who:
- Lost the SIM card used during JAMB registration.
- Can no longer access the email address linked to their JAMB profile.
- Need to update either their phone number, email address, or both for legitimate reasons.
However, JAMB states that this service can only be used once per candidate.
What You Need Before Visiting A JAMB Centre
Before starting the process, make sure you have the following:
- Your JAMB profile code, registration number, or existing login credentials.
- A new GSM number and/or email address you want to register.
- A duly executed court affidavit, scanned and ready for upload.
- Money to pay the prescribed JAMB processing fee through the e-Facility portal.
Hereunder Is A Step-By-Step Guide On How To Change Your JAMB SIM Card Or Email
Step 1: Log in to Your JAMB e-Facility Portal
Sign in to your JAMB e-Facility account using your existing email address, registration number, or profile code.
Step 2: Pay for the SIM Swap or Email Change Service
On your dashboard, click “SIM Swap/eMail Change Payment” and pay the required fee.
Step 3: Visit an Approved JAMB CBT Centre
After payment, go to a designated JAMB Professional Testing Centre (PTC), Professional Registration Centre (PRC), accredited CBT centre, or JAMB State Office where the service is available.
Step 4: Retrieve Your Details
At the centre, open the SIM Swap/eMail Change Quicklink.
Enter your profile code or your existing registered GSM number, then click “Fetch Details.”
Step 5: Complete Biometric Verification
JAMB officials will verify your identity using your biometric data before any changes can be made.
Step 6: Enter Your New Details
Choose whether you want to update:
- GSM number only.
- Email address only.
- Both GSM number and email address.
Enter the new information carefully and upload your scanned court affidavit.
Step 7: Submit and Confirm
Click “Update” to complete the process.
A confirmation message will appear once the changes have been successfully processed.
Where Can You Access the Service?
JAMB says candidates can only complete the process at designated JAMB CBT centres and JAMB State Offices.
The Board warned candidates not to patronise cybercafés, agents, or unauthorised centres offering SIM swap or email change services.
