6 Die In Road Accident As Dep Governor’s Convoy Evacuates Victims To Hospital

Six people have been killed in a road accident at Murke along the Yola-Song road in Adamawa state.

The accident involved a Bus and a military patrol vehicle had head collision as both vehicles were coming from different directions

Eyewitness Maryam Zita said five people were burnt to ashes from the bus, said to have been coming from Kano state, loaded with commuters

Zita, further stated that a soldier died on the spot, and another was unconscious from the military vehicle at the scene of the accident

The Adamawa Deputy Governor, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, had to delay her official visit to Mubi for two hours, when her convoy ran into the accident scene and she ordered her convoy to evacuate the victims to the specialist hospital in Yola for treatment

Farauta, who expressed shock over the incident, urged motorists to avoid speeding while on inter- and intra-city transit

LEADERSHIP gathered that officials from the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) arrived at the scene late when the Hummer vehicle was still on fire, as other road users watched helplessly.

Motorists and commuters had difficulty navigating through the bush to find alternative routes, as the road was closed due to traffic gridlock.
