BNXN Says Lagos Is More Expensive Than Los Angeles, Explains US Relocation

Nigerian singer Daniel Benson, popularly known as BNXN, has shed light on his decision to relocate to the United States, citing the high cost of living in Lagos as a major factor.

Speaking during a TikTok livestream, the singer stated that, beyond the financial burden, he also finds life in the US safer and less threatening than his experience in Lagos, where encounters with hoodlums and street beggars demanding money were a regular occurrence.

“Since I got to the United States, nobody has asked me to give them money. And people are also suffering here. Lagos is super expensive. It is more expensive than Los Angeles,” he said.

BNXN acknowledged that housing costs in the US are high, disclosing that he currently pays $12,000 in rent per month. However, he noted that, aside from housing, the cost of living in Los Angeles is largely manageable.

“Aside from housing, every other thing in LA is not expensive. Here you just pay your rent, and you’re good,” he added.

His comments have sparked online conversation, with many Nigerians weighing in on the rising cost of living in Lagos and the growing trend of Nigerian artists and celebrities relocating abroad.
