Former Senate President and African Democratic Congress (ADC) National Chairman, David Mark, and former Osun State Governor and party National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, have criticised the performance of the All Progressives Congress (APC) government in Ekiti State, expressing confidence that the ADC will win the upcoming governorship election.
The party leaders made the remarks on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti during a mega rally ahead of the June 20 off-cycle governorship poll, where thousands of supporters gathered to show solidarity with the party’s candidate, Ambassador Dare Bejide.
Mark, addressing supporters, urged residents of the state to back the ADC, insisting that the party represents a credible alternative capable of addressing economic challenges and “rescuing Ekiti from poverty.” He maintained that the ruling party had failed to deliver meaningful benefits to citizens.
Similarly, Aregbesola dismissed claims that the ADC lacked the structure to challenge the APC, arguing that elections would ultimately determine the true strength of political parties. He expressed confidence that the opposition would prevail if the process is conducted freely and fairly.
According to him, the APC should not underestimate the opposition, warning that assumptions about political dominance could prove misleading at the polls.
“If truly they want to go to the poll without writing results, they can never win that election,” he said, insisting that the outcome would reflect the will of the people if properly conducted.
The rally marks part of intensified campaigning by the ADC ahead of the Ekiti governorship election, as parties continue to mobilise support across the state.
