Three-time champions El-Kanemi Warriors will face surprise package Ikorodu City in the final of the 2026 President Federation Cup after both sides emerged victorious in Wednesday’s semi-final encounters.
El-Kanemi, winners of the competition in 1991, 1992 and 2024, secured their place in the showpiece match with an impressive 3-1 victory over Wikki Tourists in Katsina, reaching a second consecutive Federation Cup final.
The Maiduguri-based side produced a commanding display to underline their status as one of the favourites for the trophy and move within touching distance of a fourth national cup title.
Ikorodu City, meanwhile, continued their remarkable giant-killing run by overcoming Nasarawa United 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in regulation time at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.
The defeat extended Nasarawa United’s unhappy history at the Benin venue, which once again proved an unlucky ground for the ‘Solid Miners’. Five years ago, they suffered heartbreak in the Federation Cup final after drawing 2-2 with Bayelsa United before losing 5-4 in a penalty shootout.
This time, history repeated itself as Ikorodu City held their nerve from the spot to book a historic place in the final.
The final promises to be a fascinating contest between the experienced El-Kanemi Warriors and an Ikorodu City side that has captured attention with a series of impressive performances throughout the competition.
