Friends and political associates of the Speaker of the Kwara State House of Assembly and governorship flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu, on Tuesday gathered at the Old Ilorin Central Mosque in Idi-Ape for a special prayer session to mark his 41st birthday.
The prayer session, led by Imam Maraba, Imam Aliyu Gbamuragaji, attracted a large turnout of political figures, including members of the Kwara State House of Assembly, local government chairmen, party stalwarts and supporters of the Speaker.
The gathering took place at the historic Old Ilorin Central Mosque, a site regarded as significant in the history of the Ilorin Emirate, where religious scholars and community leaders say prayers are considered especially meaningful due to its spiritual heritage.
Imam Maraba, who led the prayers, said the venue carries deep historical and spiritual significance, noting that it represents a place where revered Islamic scholars once gathered for worship and guidance.
He said prayers offered at the mosque hold special weight, stressing that leadership is strengthened through faith, humility and devotion to God.
He also commended Danladi-Salihu’s leadership qualities, describing him as a patient and loyal public servant whose faith in God has contributed to his political journey and achievements.
According to him, marking the birthday at such a symbolic location reflects a strong spiritual connection between the celebrant, his supporters and their faith.
Prayers were also offered for the success of the Speaker’s governorship ambition in 2027, as well as for Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration, and for peace, unity and development in Kwara State.
