As part of activities to mark the 84th birthday of former head of state, General Abdulsalami Abubakar, three books are to be presented to the public on Saturday.
The presentation of the books will take place at the State House Banquet Hall, Presidential Villa, Aso Rock Abuja.
The three books according to the organisers of the event are titled: “A Call of Duty: My Autobiography” , Mediating for Peace in Africa: A Festschrift in Honor of General Abdulsalami A. Abubakar” and “Nigeria’s Grand Patriot: Abdulsalami Alhaji Abubakar, GCFR”.
According to the programme of events the Abdulsalami Abubakar African Resource Center AAARC will also be unveiled at the ceremony.
It was learnt that a public presentation of “Tributes to a National Icon” and Reflections on Leadership and National Unity” would also take place.
According to one of the organisers, Professor Mohammed Kuta Yahaya, Chancellor of the Abdulkhadir Kure University, Minna, Niger State, the event is themed: “ The Legacy of A Statesman.”
Professor Kuta Yahaya, one-time Secretary to the Niger State Government said prominent Nigerians, top politicians and people from the academia would grace the event.
Born on June 13, 1942, General Abdulsalami Abubakar was Nigeria’s military head of state from 1988 to 1999.
He is celebrated for keeping his promise to hand over government to a civilian government in 1999.
