The Governor of Oyo State, ‘Seyi Makinde, has declared Tuesday, a work-free day across the state in commemoration of the Islamic New Year, Hijrah 1448AH.
Governor Makinde also extended his felicitations to the Muslim Ummah in Oyo State and across Nigeria on the occasion of the new Islamic calendar year.
He prayed that Almighty Allah would grant them the grace and opportunity to celebrate many more Hijrah anniversaries in good health and prosperity.
According to a memorandum signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, the governor urged Muslims to use the occasion to offer prayers for the continued peace, unity and prosperity of Oyo State in particular and Nigeria as a whole.
The governor also called on all residents of the state to remain vigilant and security-conscious before, during and after the Hijrah celebrations.
He urged them to promptly report any suspicious movements or activities to the relevant security agencies and through the state’s emergency number, 615.
