CALABAR — A man identified as Aboyi has allegedly killed his mother in Busi Ward, Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State.
Community sources said the incident occurred over the weekend and was discovered after residents raised concern when the woman failed to carry out her usual early morning activities.
An eyewitness, Eshebi Godwin, said the woman was later found dead inside her home, while the suspect allegedly attempted to conceal the incident before leaving the house.
According to residents, suspicion grew after neighbours noticed her absence and began inquiries within the community.
The suspect, who reportedly lived with the deceased, was later questioned by community members and allegedly made statements suggesting involvement in the incident.
Residents said he was subsequently handed over to security operatives for further investigation.
Community members described the incident as shocking and unprecedented in the area.
The Cross River State Police Command had yet to issue an official statement on the incident as of the time of filing this report.
The body has reportedly been deposited at the Obanliku General Hospital mortuary pending further investigation.
