The Imo State Command of Man O’ War says it “stands completely and unreservedly on the side of justice and the rule of law”.
The State Commander, Man O’ War Nigeria, Engr Anthony I. Oji-Dike, stated this while reacting to the alleged killing of a 100-level student of Federal University of Technology, Owerri, FUTO, Chinedu Chibuzor Christogonus, by the Cadet Unit Executives of the institution.
His words: “The Imo State Command stands completely and unreservedly on the side of justice and the rule of law.
“We maintain a strict zero-tolerance policy toward unauthorised physical drills, brutality, corporal punishment, and any form of jungle justice.
“The alleged actions of the FUTO Cadet Unit Executives are a flagrant, rogue violation of the Man O’ War Nigeria Constitution, our operational codes of conduct, and the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“The State Command has officially taken note of the swift action of the Imo State Police Command, which has resulted in the arrest and transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, Owerri. We fully support this investigation and demand that the law take its full, unshielded course.
“Furthermore, we received the administrative decision of FUTO management regarding the disbarment of the Campus Cadet Unit in good faith.
“We respect the institution’s prerogative to restore peace and ensure the absolute safety of its students.”
Oji-Dike equally warned that ‘any officer, warrant, or cadet member found engaging in unauthorised detention, physical torture, or human rights abuses under the guise of “discipline” will be immediately suspended, stripped of their rank, and handed over directly to the police for prosecution.’
“Our ongoing initiatives, including the Safe School Project and Grassroots Intelligence Networks, are built strictly on civil, ethical, and lawful foundations.
“The Imo State Command will continue to cooperate with the university authorities and law enforcement agencies to ensure that the memory of the deceased is honoured with transparent justice.”
