The newly inaugurated chairman of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) for Cross River and Akwa Ibom States, Peter Okim Abang, has pledged to run an inclusive administration anchored on unity, transparency and broad participation.
Abang, who spoke in a telephone interview with LEADERSHIP on Sunday, said his administration would ensure that every member of the association had a voice and was carried along in decision-making.
“I will run an inclusive government. Whether you supported me or not, you are all my brothers and colleagues. I will operate an open-door policy where every member will have a voice and a sense of belonging. There will be no segregation,” he said.
The new chairman spoke days after his inauguration in Calabar on Thursday alongside members of the 16-man Caretaker Executive Committee for IPMAN Eastern Zone, System 2E.
The inauguration was conducted by the National Secretary of IPMAN, Hon. James Terlemun Tor, on behalf of the National President, Alhaji Abubakar Maigandi Shettima.
Abang expressed appreciation to the National Executive Council (NEC) for entrusting him with the leadership of the chapter, promising not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
He described the inauguration as a new beginning for the association, saying it marked an end to the prolonged troubles affecting IPMAN, particularly in Cross River and Akwa Ibom states and the Eastern Zone.
Abang said the welfare of members would be a priority under his administration, while the interests of petroleum marketers in the two states would be vigorously protected.
He also pledged to work with relevant stakeholders to promote smooth petroleum product distribution and stability in the downstream sector.
The chairman called for the support, loyalty and cooperation of members, saying his administration would work to reposition IPMAN as a stronger and more united association in Cross River and Akwa Ibom States.
