AKURE — The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ondo South Senatorial District by-election, Prof. Dayo Faduyile, has expressed confidence in securing victory at the polls, citing positive feedback from polling units across the district and the peaceful conduct of the election.
Faduyile spoke shortly after casting his vote at Ward 6, Unit 5, LA Primary School, Ode Ikoya, in Okitipupa Local Government Area.
He described the early assessment of the election as encouraging, noting that reports from various polling units indicated strong support for the APC.
“The assessment is a great one. We have received a lot of information from polling units across the district and it has been very favourable,” he said.
The APC candidate commended officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for their prompt deployment and professionalism, noting that electoral personnel arrived early at their designated locations.
“The INEC staff reported promptly at their duty posts. We are not hearing of any security breach and the people are coming out in large numbers to exercise their franchise. We are very positive that we are going to have a very good election,” he stated.
Faduyile also praised voters for their peaceful conduct and expressed satisfaction with the security situation across the senatorial district.
“The security situation in this part of the state has been peaceful. I do not expect any security breach. The people love themselves irrespective of political divides, and there are no areas of concern so far,” he said.
He further commended security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), for maintaining law and order during the exercise.
“I must give credit to the security agencies. I have seen officers of the Nigeria Police, NSCDC and other security outfits manning strategic locations. The people have also conducted themselves well, so I am confident there will be no security breach,” he added.
Faduyile assured constituents that, if elected, he would provide inclusive and people-oriented representation in the Senate.
“This election will produce a new representative for the Southern Senatorial District. We are committed to participatory democracy. We will engage the people, listen to them and ensure they are well represented,” he said.
The APC candidate thanked voters for turning out to participate in the by-election and reiterated his optimism about the outcome.
“I want to thank the people for coming out en masse to vote. I believe that most of the votes will go to me as their preferred candidate,” he said.
