…Flags off campaign in Osogbo

OSOGBO— GOVERNOR Ademola Adeleke of Osun State, yesterday, received scores of allies of erstwhile National Secretary of All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Iyiola Omisore, into the Accord Party, declaring that he will not be excluded from the ballot ahead of the 2026 governorship election despite recent disregistration verdict of five political parties.
The decampees joined by ex-commisioners under the administration of Adegboyega Oyetola, are Folorunson Bamisayemi (Education) and Yemi Lawal (Youth and Sport), Jamiu Olawumi (SA Education) who declared that they will work for the re-election of Adeleke.
Adeleke, who spoke while flagging off his governorship re-election campaign in Osogbo, capital of Osun State, dismissed concerns over the deregistration verdict of Federal High Court.
He said: “My hope is in God and He told me this morning that I will win my re-election. I love you; I don’t take Osun money to Lagos, Osun money will be in Osun. Oyetola, Adeoti are collecting half of the salary I am paying. They are plotting that I should not be on the ballot but I am a sharp guy.”
Earlier, speaking on behalf of the decampees, Bamisayemi hinged their decision to leave APC because the party refused to give Omisore guber ticket and subsequently fielded a weak candidate against Adeleke.
He said: “We the supporters of Omisore decided to join Adeleke for his re-election. It is only in the Bible that David defeated Goliath, it never happened in reality, we told them but they refused to listen that Adeleke is a giant that David can’t defeat. We told them that they should present Omisore as candidate of the party but they didn’t listen, he was disqualified.”
