Minister of Power Joseph Tegbe on Monday assured that the country will witness tremendous visible improvement in the electricity supply and infrastructural development.
Tegbe stated this while speaking to journalists shortly after his swearing-in ceremony at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
He said President Bola Tinubu has invested much in the power sector, which he claimed has started yielding positive results.
He noted that the power sector has a couple of challenges and a lot of efforts have been put into the sector by the Tinubu administration.
“People might not appreciate it but very soon people will appreciate it,” he said.
“President Bola Tinubu has invested so much in the last three years in this sector however we are going to be commissioning projects…and also make sure that whatever it requires, we will make sure that Nigerians actually get the service they deserve in the power sector.
“I said it during my Senate confirmation that I am not promising a magic wand, I am not promising 24 hours, seven days in a week power, we will get there ultimately.
“But what I promised Nigerians is that we will see visible improvements and infrastructure.
“In the last four weeks, power supply has improved across Nigeria and this is due to the push by the President,” he said.
The minister stated that in the last four weeks he was appointed, he has met with relevant stakeholders in the power sector, stressing that the stakeholders have given commitments.
He said that what the ministry would be doing as soon as possible is to ensure consistency and improvements over the next couple of months.
“Nigerians should please bear with us. The president understands the challenges; we are addressing those challenges and we will make sure we fix it both in generation, transmission and distribution.
“There are a couple of challenges; the sector has its peculiarities and we are going to fix these peculiarities,” said Tegbe.
