BENIN CITY – WITH a conducive environment and right support from the state government, a private firm, Skyewise Group said it was considering establishing a vehicle assembly plant in Edo State to explore the prevailing investment opportunities being created by the Governor Monday Okpebholo administration.
Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the group, Dr. Elvis Abuyere stated this yesterday during the opening and commissioning of Skewise Group’s multi-billion naira office in Benin City and marked its 11 years anniversary.
Abuyere disclosed that the company has invested over N9 billion in the state’s economy through the edifice, an investment he said highlighted the firm’s commitment to economic development, job creation and youth empowerment in the state.
He described the project as a milestone in the company’s 11 years journey of delivering excellence across various sectors of the economy and that it has created more than 100 direct jobs through the new facility in the state capital.
According to him, “We have a meeting with the executive government of Edo State. We discussed our partnership in terms of bringing a vehicle assembly plant to Edo State whereby we will begin to assemble vehicles here. That is on the pipeline and my partners are already in China where they are keeping up to ensure that this is established because we believe that instead of importing these vehicles, let us have a plant here and we are working towards that and in no short time, we will begin to experience that.”
He said, “We have invested over N9 billion in Edo State. This project is not just a celebration but a testimony of our commitment to economic growth and development. By employing over 100 staff in this building alone, we are contributing to job creation and supporting the state’s economy.”
He further revealed that through its foundation, the Group has empowered more than 2,000 youths across the country, provided opportunities for them and supported them to promote self-reliance and productive engagement.
He said that the company remained committed to building human capital, which he described as a critical driver of national development.
Speaking at the event, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Skyewise Group, Ambassador Usman Sarki, said the company represented both the present and future of enterprise development through strategic investments and community-focused initiatives.
He commended the Edo State Government for creating an enabling environment that encourages private sector investment.
Speaking after commissioning the project, Governor Monday Okpebholo represented by his deputy, Hon Dennis Idahosa said the company’s decision to expand its footprint in Edo State reflected growing investor confidence in the state’s economy.
He said his administration has done a lot to ensure security in the state.
“Your decision to invest in Edo State is a vote of confidence in our people, policies and our economy. Our government is positioning Edo State as a destination for economic growth.
“Edo State is safe for business. We have strengthened community policing by equipping and training regularly the Edo State Security Vigilante Network personnel on global best practices and also to work hand in hand with federal security agencies.”
