The Senate has paid glowing tribute to the outgoing clerk of the House of Representatives, Dr Abdulkadir Bello, describing his career in the National Assembly as one marked by professionalism, integrity, and unwavering dedication to public service.
The commendation came from the chief whip of the Senate, Senator Mohammed Tahir Monguno, who also serves as chairman of the Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters, vice chairman of the Senate Committee on Appropriation, and co-chairman of the Senate Ad-hoc Committee on State and Local Government Creation.
Speaking with LEADERSHIP after a grand reception held in honour of Bello at the National Assembly Complex over the weekend, Monguno praised the outgoing clerk’s exceptional commitment to duty and adherence to the rules governing the legislative institution.
Reflecting on their working relationship, the senator recalled his era as chairman of the House Committee on Agriculture and Services when Bello served as the committee’s clerk.
“I came to realise that Dr Abdulkadir Bello is a consummate public servant with an exceptional work ethic. He always upheld the rules and regulations governing the service and remained loyal to his responsibilities.
“His professionalism and dedication distinguished him throughout his career,” Senator Monguno said.
Although Dr Bello officially retired from the service, Senator Monguno said he believes the National Assembly can still benefit immensely from his wealth of knowledge and experience.
“Even though he is retiring today, I do not believe his service to the institution is over. His outstanding performance speaks for itself, and I strongly recommend that the House should continue to draw from his vast experience by engaging him in other capacities where his expertise can further strengthen the legislature,” he added. Senator also urged the Senatorial Assembly’s staff to emulate Dr BBello’s senatorial discipline and passion for service.
“My advice to his colleagues is to emulate his lifestyle and dedication to work. Dr Bello has always approached his duties with sincerity, recognising hat service is ultimately rendered to Almighty Allah and not merely to men,” he said.
Expressing gratitude to Almighty Allah for Dr Bello’s successful career and good health, Senator Monguno described the colourful retirement celebration as a testament to the respect and admiration the outgoing Clerk has earned over the years.
He noted that the impressive turnout of distinguished personalities from across the country reflected Dr Bello’s strong interpersonal relationships and the lasting impact he made during his years of service.
“The calibre of dignitaries who gathered to celebrate Dr Bello speaks volumes about the esteem in which he is held. People from different backgrounds came to honour him because of the positive relationships he built and the remarkable legacy he leaves behind,” Senator concluded.
