85-Year-Old Ugandan Deputy Prime Minister Shows Dance Moves, To Contest Again (Video)

General Moses Ali, the Second Deputy Prime Minister and Deputy Leader of Government Business in Parliament, has declared his intention to run for the Adjumani West parliamentary seat again in 2026.

Despite his extensive political career, Gen (Rtd) Moses Ali asserts that he has the energy and determination to continue serving his constituents and advancing his political career.

“Some people pronounced me dead several times, It was only Jesus Christ who died and rose again,” said the octogenarian politician with a tinge of sarcasm.

General Moses Ali, a stalwart in the NRM government and a key figure in maintaining stability in the West Nile sub-region, remains undeterred by age as he prepares for another electoral campaign in 2026.

Born on April 5, 1939,  Gen (Rtd) Moses Ali, at 85 years old, shows no signs of slowing down. During a recent event in Kiraba Parish, Adjumani District, where he distributed 130 land titles and inaugurated key community projects, including the Kiraba Community Resources Centre and the KuluKulu-Zoka Community Road, he reaffirmed his commitment to serve.

Elections are held every five years in Uganda. I will contest again, and if you are not happy, it's up to you,” he confidently declared to the gathered crowd.

General Ali emphasized the democratic process of elections, welcoming competition from potential candidates. His dedication to public service and infrastructure development continues to resonate strongly within his constituency and beyond.

“Anybody can contest with me in 2026. I have no problem. It's you to make your choice, I still have the energy to serve the people of Adjumani West. Let me repeat myself that I will contest again,” he said.

The minister's determination contrasts sharply with the recent efforts of incumbents who have been actively discouraging challengers and urging voters to re-elect them in 2026.
