Sheikh Yakubu Musa, the Chairman of Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’ah Wa’kamatus Sunnah in Katsina, has called on youths in the state to avoid participating in the planned nationwide protest against economic hardship.

Sheikh Musa, however, acknowledged the economic hardships but argued that protests would not resolve the issues and might worsen the situation.

He mentioned that the government has been informed about the economic hardships citizens face and urged authorities to take measures to alleviate the situation.

His words: “Instead of getting out of that hardship, we may end up jumping into a bigger one. Like here in Katsina, we are also disturbed by insecurity.

“We should shun the planned protest. We should not be part of it. Our youths should also shun from being part of it.

“Because it could destroy the nation, we have seen what happened in some countries where as a result of protest, the countries had been thrown into war and total destruction.’’

Regarding the Samoa agreement, Sheikh Musa clarified that representatives from various Islamic sects had discussed the matter with federal government representatives.

He stated that the government officials assured them that LGBTQ issues were not included in the agreement.
